  4. Continue to cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and comes to a boil.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the Nutella and vanilla extract until well combined.
  6. Pour the pudding into individual serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
  7. Before serving, top each pudding with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
