Nutella was created in the 1940s by Pietro Ferrero during World War II when cocoa was scarce. He mixed hazelnuts with cocoa to create a spreadable chocolate paste, which eventually became Nutella.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the Nutella and butter together, stirring until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the melted Nutella mixture to the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.
  6. Fold in the flour mixture until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool in the baking dish for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Cut into squares and serve.
