  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and red food coloring.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the buttermilk and vinegar. Add the baking soda and stir well. Add the buttermilk mixture to the batter and mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and heavy cream until smooth and creamy.
  7. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining cream cheese frosting.
  8. Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving. Enjoy!
