Heat olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic cloves. Cook until onion becomes translucent.

Add sliced mushrooms and artichoke hearts. Cook for 5 minutes until mushrooms become tender.

Pour in vegetable broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Remove from heat and let the soup cool slightly. Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree the soup until smooth.

Return the soup to low heat and stir in heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and fresh thyme. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
