Palmiers are also known as elephant ears due to their shape resembling the ears of an elephant.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle.
  3. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon evenly over the puff pastry.
  4. Starting from one long side, roll the pastry tightly towards the center.
  5. Repeat from the other long side, so the two rolls meet in the middle.
  6. Slice the rolled pastry into 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick slices.
  7. Place the slices onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Melt the butter and brush it over the top of each slice.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool before serving.
