Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into chunks.

Boil the sweet potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.

Mash the sweet potatoes with butter, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.

Transfer the mashed sweet potatoes to a baking dish.

Sprinkle pecans on top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pecans are toasted and the sweet potatoes are heated through.
