Marbled-Chocolate Banana Bread
Banana bread became popular during the Great Depression as a way to use overripe bananas.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.

In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas.

In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix well.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder and hot water to make a smooth paste.

Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spoon dollops of the cocoa paste on top, then swirl it into the batter using a knife or skewer.

Pour the remaining banana bread batter on top, and repeat the swirling process with the remaining cocoa paste.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
