  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Grate the cold butter into the flour mixture and gently mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute.
  7. Pat the dough into a circle of about 1-inch thickness. Cut the circle into 8 equal wedges.
  8. Transfer the scones to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the scones to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
