Macaroni & Cheese
Macaroni and cheese is a popular dish in the United States and has been enjoyed since the 18th century. Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States, is known to have served macaroni and cheese at a state dinner in 1802.

Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk until smooth. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and black pepper.

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated.

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
