  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a square baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the baking dish for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
