Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cut the cornbread into cubes and spread them on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until slightly toasted.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion, celery, and tomatillos. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the chopped green apples, sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook for another 5 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted cornbread cubes and the sautéed vegetable mixture.

Gradually pour the vegetable broth over the cornbread mixture, stirring gently to combine.

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and cover with foil.

Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
