Banana bread became popular during the Great Depression in the United States when resourceful housewives repurposed overripe bananas instead of letting them go to waste.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
  3. Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture. Stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased and lined loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
