Fried rice is believed to have originated in China around 4000 years ago and was initially made to use up leftover rice.

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add diced carrot and cook until slightly softened.
  4. Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet, crack the eggs into the empty side, and scramble them.
  5. Add cooked rice and peas to the skillet, stir to combine.
  6. Pour soy sauce over the rice mixture and stir well.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper, adjust to taste.
  8. Cook for a few more minutes until everything is heated through.
  9. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions, if desired.
