  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel and core the apples, then cut them into thin slices.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, granulated sugar, butter, egg, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until a crumbly dough forms.
  4. Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of a greased baking dish.
  5. Arrange the apple slices evenly over the dough.
  6. Crumble the remaining dough over the apples.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let it cool for 30 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar.
  9. Cut into bars and serve.
