Peel and core the apples, then cut them into thin slices.

In a bowl, mix the flour, granulated sugar, butter, egg, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until a crumbly dough forms.

Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of a greased baking dish.

Arrange the apple slices evenly over the dough.

Crumble the remaining dough over the apples.

Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
