Creamy Small Pasta and Cheese
Macaroni and cheese, a similar dish, was served to Thomas Jefferson at a state dinner in 1802, and he loved it so much that he had it served at a White House dinner in 1803.
This is vegetarian and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 35 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 11.

Cook the small pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Slowly whisk in the milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheese until melted and smooth.

Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and stir until well coated.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Transfer the pasta mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs.

Bake for 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Garnish with parsley before serving.
