  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. Slowly incorporate the flour until a dough forms.
  4. Divide the dough into two portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Roll out one portion of the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  7. Cut into 2-inch squares.
  8. Place a small dollop of fruit preserves in the center of each square.
  9. Fold opposite corners of the square towards the center, slightly overlapping.
  10. Place the kolacky on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with the remaining dough and preserves.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  12. Allow the kolacky to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
