In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Gradually add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, alternating between the two, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Stir in the rainbow sprinkles.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
