Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.

In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Peel, core, and slice the apples, then add them to the sugar mixture. Stir until the apples are coated.

Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.

Dot the top of the apple mixture with small pieces of butter.

Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apple mixture.

Trim and crimp the edges of the pie crust to seal.

Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
