  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will foam up.
  3. Pour the foamy mixture onto a greased baking sheet and let it cool for about 1 hour.
  4. Once cooled, break the sponge candy into small pieces.
  5. Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave or double boiler.
  6. Dip each piece of sponge candy into the melted chocolate, coating it completely.
  7. Place the chocolate-covered sponge candy on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let it set at room temperature until the chocolate hardens.
