Chocolate-Coffee Cupcake with Coffee Buttercream Frosting

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and instant coffee powder.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.

Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a medium bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and instant coffee powder, beating until smooth. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.

Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, frost them with the coffee buttercream frosting.
