Chocolate Caramel Toffee Bars
Toffee was originally invented in England and is made by caramelizing sugar with butter and sometimes adding nuts.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the batter, then sprinkle with half of the toffee bits and chocolate chips. Top with the remaining batter, spreading it evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.

Drizzle with additional caramel sauce and sprinkle with the remaining toffee bits and chocolate chips. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
