Ingredients
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, milk, butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well until a dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
-
In a separate bowl, mix together chocolate chips, cocoa powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter for the filling.
-
Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
-
Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
-
Cut the log in half lengthwise, exposing the filling. Twist the two halves together, creating a braided effect.
-
Place the twisted dough in a greased loaf pan. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Bake the babka for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
-
Transfer the babka to a wire rack and let it cool completely before serving.
