Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, combine the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese, milk, salt, and black pepper.

Pour the mixture into a casserole dish.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle the french fried onions on top.

Bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.
