Thumbprint cookies are called so because the indentation made in the center of the cookie resembles a thumbprint.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the vanilla extract and mix well.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to make an indentation in the center of each cookie.

Fill each indentation with a small amount of raspberry jam.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
