Cheddar cheese was first made in the village of Cheddar in Somerset, England, and has been produced there since at least the 12th century.

  1. Cook the rice with water in a saucepan.
  2. In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds.
  3. Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Saute until golden brown.
  4. Add tomatoes, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and sugar. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. In a casserole dish, layer half of the cooked rice, followed by half of the tomato chutney, and half of the grated cheddar cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  10. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
