Anzac biscuits were originally made by Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) wives during World War I and were sent to soldiers serving overseas.

This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 35 minutes. Even a beginner can handle preparing this dish. Number of ingredients: 8.

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, desiccated coconut, plain flour, and brown sugar.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and golden syrup over low heat.
  4. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the baking soda in boiling water.
  5. Add the melted butter mixture and the baking soda mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix well to combine.
  6. Take tablespoonfuls of the mixture and roll into balls. Place the balls onto the prepared baking tray, leaving space between each one.
  7. Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a spoon.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes.
  10. Transfer the biscuits to a wire rack to cool completely.
