  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and dark chocolate together in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  3. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually pour in the melted chocolate mixture, stirring until well combined.
  4. Sift in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the walnuts, if desired.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the baking dish for 30 minutes.
  9. Once cooled, remove the brownies from the baking dish and cut into squares.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
