Ankake is a Japanese term meaning ‘thick sauce’ and is commonly used in Chinese cuisine as well.

Cut the broccoli into florets and blanch in boiling water for 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Cut the tofu into cubes.

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, cornstarch, and water to make the sauce.

Heat vegetable oil in a pan or wok over medium heat. Add the tofu and stir-fry until golden brown.

Add the blanched broccoli to the pan and stir-fry for another minute.

Pour the sauce over the tofu and broccoli mixture. Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
