  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the fresh bacon substitute and cook until browned.
  3. Remove the bacon substitute from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
  5. Add the vegetable broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, and black pepper to the pan.
  6. Return the bacon substitute to the pan and bring to a simmer.
  7. Cover and cook for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 15 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
