Blackberry Dumplings
Blackberries are often referred to as ‘bramble fruit’ because they grow on thorny bushes called brambles.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 50 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 10.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a mixing bowl, combine the blackberries and sugar. Let them sit for 10 minutes to release their juices.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Add the milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and lemon zest to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.

Pour the blackberry mixture into a baking dish.

Drop spoonfuls of the batter on top of the blackberries.

In a small saucepan, heat the water until boiling. Pour the boiling water over the batter.

Bake for 25 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the blackberries are bubbling.

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
