In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and vegetable shortening in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.

Using a toothpick or a fork, dip each peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate, leaving a small portion uncovered to resemble a buckeye.
