  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
  3. Gradually add the milk mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the beignets from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. Dust the beignets with powdered sugar before serving.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!
