  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a muffin tin or line with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter, sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  7. Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool in the tin for 5 minutes. Then transfer the muffins to a wire rack to cool completely.
