  2. Slice the bananas and set aside.
  3. Arrange a layer of vanilla wafers in a baking dish.
  4. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg yolks and milk.
  6. Gradually add the milk mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly.
  7. Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
  9. Layer half of the sliced bananas over the vanilla wafers.
  10. Pour half of the pudding mixture over the bananas.
