In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.

In a separate bowl, melt the unsalted butter and add it to the mashed bananas.

Add the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture and mix well.

In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
