  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Spoon the batter into a greased doughnut pan, filling each well about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the doughnuts are golden brown and spring back when lightly touched.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  8. Transfer the doughnuts to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once the doughnuts are cool, use a piping bag or small spoon to fill each doughnut with jelly or jam.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
