Apple Torte

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch springform pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, butter, egg yolks, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until the dough comes together.

Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pan.

In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice. Arrange the apple slices over the dough in the pan.

Roll out the remaining dough and cut into strips. Arrange the strips in a lattice pattern over the apples.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, remove the sides of the springform pan and let the torte cool completely on a wire rack.

In a small saucepan, heat the apricot preserves over low heat until melted. Brush the melted preserves over the top of the torte.

Sprinkle sliced almonds over the top. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
