Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and salt. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add cold water and mix until the dough comes together. Divide the dough into two equal parts, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. In a saucepan, combine the apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat until the apples are tender and the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. Roll out one part of the dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into rectangles, approximately 4x3 inches in size. Repeat with the other part of the dough.
  5. Place a spoonful of the apple filling onto half of the rectangles, leaving a small border around the edges. Brush the edges with beaten egg and place another rectangle of dough on top. Press the edges together to seal.
  6. Transfer the pop tarts to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled pop tarts.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
