Strawberries are not actually berries, but rather an aggregate fruit. Each ‘seed’ on a strawberry is actually a separate fruit itself!

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Gently fold in the fresh strawberries.
  7. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cupcake liners.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and enough milk to make a smooth glaze.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cupcakes.
  12. Top each cupcake with a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh strawberry.
