Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and almond extract, and mix until well combined.

Gradually add the flour and mix until a dough forms.

Press the dough into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with sliced almonds.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

Cut into bars and allow to cool completely before serving.
