In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the egg yolks, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

Stir in the ground walnuts.

Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each into a log, about 2 inches in diameter.

Wrap the logs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice the chilled dough logs into 1/4 inch thick rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
