French Pain Depices
Pain d’épices, meaning ‘spice bread’ in French, is a traditional French cake or bread made with a variety of spices and sweetened with honey. It has been enjoyed in France for centuries and is often associated with the holiday season.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, honey, brown sugar, eggs, milk, and orange zest.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Stir in the raisins and chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
