Once the mixture thickens, remove from heat and discard the vanilla bean.

Pour the mixture into serving dishes and let it cool for a few minutes.

Cover the dishes with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Before serving, whip the cream until soft peaks form.
