Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.75 cup Buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup Vegetable oil
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup Boiling water
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Red food coloring
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the buttermilk, oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  3. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and red food coloring until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
  6. Cut into snack-sized squares and serve.
