Line a baking dish with parchment paper.

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate and butter are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.

Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top.

Let the fudge cool at room temperature for about 2 hours, then refrigerate for an additional 2 hours to set.

Once set, remove the fudge from the baking dish and cut it into squares.
