In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.

Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass dipped in powdered sugar.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
