Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cloves
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the applesauce. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer the cupcakes to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and ground cloves to make the frosting.
  9. Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, spread the frosting on top of each cupcake.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
