  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix water, oil, and egg.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a rope.
  8. Twist each rope into a pretzel shape and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda.
  10. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds on each side.
  11. Place the boiled pretzels back on the baking sheet, sprinkle with coarse salt, and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Let the pretzels cool for a few minutes before serving.
