Ingredients
  • 500 gram Potatoes
  • 200 gram Shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 small Onion
  • 2 clove Garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme leaves
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic cloves. Cook until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
  4. Add the shiitake mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are tender.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat.
  6. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  7. Stir in the grated Gruyere cheese until melted and smooth.
  8. Season with salt, black pepper, and fresh thyme leaves.
  9. In a greased baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes and mushroom mixture. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used.
  10. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  12. Let the gratin rest for 10 minutes before serving.
