  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and maple syrup.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped pears and pecans.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
